I posted a rough draft of my Asynchronous lesson today. As I am developing my lesson, I am finding that it is really hard to get the hands on, tangible labs integrated into an online environment. I have found some really good and interesting simulations, but sometimes the student needs to see the experiment happen in real time, right in front of them.
This has presented itself to be my greatest challenge so far. Other aspects like differentiation and accommodation has been pretty straight forward like any other lesson. There are some things you can do with online that is much harder in a standard classroom though. Having many resources linked in to an assignment is very handy. My current favorite is embedding rather than linking. The item is right there with no hassle of linking to somewhere else. I am also getting more fluent in the art of Google Docs.
While I have been working with online tools for a while, I have been totally left in the dust with cloud based apps. I am ok with that, and I think that is why it happened in the first place. Some of my colleagues at school have been using Docs and then linking them into our web grade book. It is pretty seamless to integrate, so now I am moving in that direction as well. It has been helpful for creating lessons since the document is available anywhere.
